Each-way calculator

Your return on an each-way bet, win part and place part, in three answers.

1 of 3 How did your horse finish?
2 of 3 How much is each part of your bet?

An each-way bet is two bets of this amount, so £5 each-way costs £10.

3 of 3 What price did you take, and what are the place terms?

Working out each-way returns

Only a win makes the win part pay at your full price. If your horse finishes in the places, the place part pays the fraction of your price set by the place terms. If it wins, you receive both parts.

At 8/1, a £5 each-way bet with 1/5 terms costs £10 overall. If your horse wins, the win part pays £45 and the place part pays £13. You get £58 back in total. If your horse places but doesn't win, you get £13 back.

Place terms change based on how many runners there are and whether the race is a handicap. Each race page on this site lists the standard terms for its field.
